Travel Tips - Aberdeen

"Aberdeen the granite city" the description of the stone used for many of the buildings brings to mind images of a grey gloomy place.

Certainly that's far from the case. Aberdeen is a vibrant, modern wealthy city with much to see and do.

The are large numbers of hotels in the central city, they service the oil industry. If a kitchen and washing facilities are important, we recommend the Skeen House Holburn hotel, there is a good mix of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, and the location is excellent, close to most central activities.

If you want a more salubrious stay, the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa is an excellent old manor house, the food is excellent and not far out of town,

Royal Aberdeen - One of the great links of the world, home to many championships including The Walker Cup.

Cruden Bay - A fantastic course, some of the best views in golf with rolling and rambling with blind shots, even a bathtub green!

Murcar - A classic out and back links, with massive dunes and even some wetlands. A difficult course with great views.

Slains Castle - The setting for Bram Stoker's Dracula, a must see for a selfie. Right near Cruden Bay, do both in one trip.

Nick Nairn's Cook School - Join the famous chef for a day of fun and learning about the local fare and how to use it best.

Amore - What a place, great atmosphere and even better food, the pasta is handmade each day, its so fresh. Address: 116 W Heron St, Aberdeen. Ph: 01224 639198
